The mast is a vertical assembly that is responsible for lowering and raising cargo. The mast of a forklift comprises interlocking rails to provide some lateral steadiness. These rails are guided by rollers or brushings.
The masts on lift trucks use metal plates to be able to transfer materials and are driven by hydraulic systems.
